Morrison County United Way: Legacy of Dolly Parton lives on through Imagination Library

Morrison County United Way (MCUW) has been the local partner of The Dollywood Foundation for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program since 2002. With the recent passing of Dolly Parton there have been many questions about the program. MCUW has been working with the Dollywood Foundation to provide updates.

In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. Every month, 1,148 enrolled children from age birth to 5 years old who reside in Morrison County and parts of Todd County (Browerville — Staples area) find a book in the mailbox — because of local neighbors and donors who fund it, partners who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.
