Morrison County, the gateway to the Northern Minnesota vacationland, is located 100 miles northwest of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Little more than a 90 minute drive via the four lane highway system. The area offers an abundance of wildlife, lakes, streams, snowmobiling and cross country ski trails. Beautiful parks and trails create endless opportunities to enjoy outdoor recreation. The area has two 18-hole golf courses and twenty parks which include Lindbergh State Park. The quality of life in the County is enhanced by the Heartland Symphony, indoor tennis and racquetball courts and health facilities. Community service organizations work hard to create a friendly, healthy atmosphere in which to live and raise a family. A variety of hotels and motels can be found throughout the county.

The six school systems in the area have excellent physical facilities as well as talented and dedicated administrators and staffs. The educational system in the county can be counted on to provide high quality education for our young people as well as continuing educational support for industries and the adult population. People of the area take real pride in their school systems. Athletic programs are important and the residents actively support their respective teams. Many schools enjoy competing in state athletic tournaments.

The medical needs of the area are served by St. Gabriel’s Hospital, a 96-bed general acute care facility owned and operated by the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, This hospital provides for obstetrics, orthopedics, ambulatory surgery, physical therapy and chemical dependency. Chiropractic, optometrical, orthodontic and other specialists are also located in the county.

Care for the elderly is available at three nursing homes in the county. There are several apartment complexes in the county that serve the needs of the low-income elderly. Also, available housing can be found for every income level. Friendly and courteous realtors can assist with every housing need.

Care for young children is provided for by 57 licensed childcare providers in the county.

Religion has a strong influence on the lives of the citizens of the county. Virtually, every religious denomination can be found.

Camp Ripley, located nine miles north of Little Falls, is a state owned military training site that provides direct logistical and training support for the Minnesota Army National Guard. The year-round training facilities are used by the National Guard, United States Reserve and active military units for the entire United States and Norway. Its winter training facilities are regarded as the best in the nation.
