Melgram’s Jewelry celebrates 50 years of family craftsmanship

Fifty years after Melvin and Louise Grams opened the doors of their small downtown jewelry shop, work continues behind the counters at Melgram Jewelers.
Only now, the sound comes from the hands of their grandson, third-generation jeweler Peter Grams, who balances bench work, business ownership and life as a dad in a store freshly reimagined for its next chapter.
The year 2025 marks a milestone: five decades of sparkle, skill and small-town service.
Where it all began
The Melgram story began in 1975, when Melvin and Louise Grams opened a small watch and jewelry repair shop just a block north of where the store sits today.
