For nearly 40 years, the Pierz Food Shelf has been a vital resource for families in need across eastern Morrison County. Under the dedicated leadership of volunteer director Pat Zimmermann, this humble operation has evolved to meet the increasing demands of the community.
The food shelf’s current home is a repurposed building that was once an apartment. Zimmermann recounted the history, explaining how the organization moved in around 2018 or 2019, upgrading from a tiny warming shed behind the fire hall.
“We carry a full line of everything that a food shelf would need,” Zimmermann said.
The facility now houses an array of freezers, refrigerators and shelves stocked with a range of food items.
