Tucked away northeast of Harding, Platte River Farm & Flowers is more than just a greenhouse operation. It's a family-driven vision to cultivate community through agriculture, education and shared experiences.

What started as a backyard hobby for self-sufficiency has blossomed into a thriving business for married couple Kari and Kevin Dembouski, along with their daughters Daisy and Ivy. The family's journey to transform their 280-acre property into a vibrant hub of activity has been a labor of love, fueled by a deep-rooted passion for gardening and a desire to share their knowledge with others.

"It started out that we planted tomato plants and peppers and that kind of thing for our garden,” Kari said. “Then we had such a big garden that I started with a small little greenhouse, so that we could grow more of our own plants. Then people in the area and people I worked with, they're like, ‘Hey, why don't you raise me a few,’ and then a few, and a few. And then pretty soon, we had two little greenhouses and then three little greenhouses and then one bigger greenhouse. We just found used stuff as we went, and just kept growing.”
