The Little Falls School Board approved accepting the bids for the new child care facility that will be attached to the Lincoln Elementary School on a 5-1 vote, Thursday, Nov. 16. Board Member Dan Schilling was the sole “nay” vote.
Schilling has consistently voted against a new child care facility being built since the school district partnered with the city of Little Falls to do so to address the great child care need in Morrison County. He has maintained the reason for voting “no” is because community members who have contacted him do not “believe the government or the school district have any place in getting involved in child care.”
At the Nov. 16 board meeting, Co-Founder Peter Filippi and Construction Manager Jim Oman with Contegrity Group in Little Falls presented the results of the bid process and an update about the project.
Initially, the budget of $3.3 million was based on a 10,000 square foot facility. However, during the design phase, the facility was expanded to 11,000 square feet.
