Bermel's Shoes & Boots under new ownership

Proud to be the new owner of Bermel’s Shoes & Boots in Randall, Hallie Holtz is thrilled to bring her own flair to the business. However, it isn’t a complete overhaul. Instead, she plans to keep the shoe store authentic to what people have come to know and love, but to expand the inventory to include more choices for women, add new brands, such as Birkenstock and Brooks, as well as motorcycle boots.

Another goal she has is to build a stronger digital presence by creating a website that showcases what the store carries and explains its shoe-repair services and fitting adjustments, since customers may not know all the shop has to offer. She would also like to expand the business’ social media, sell some brands online where permitted and to digitize customer and purchase records. That way, Holtz said, staff can help returning customers to find shoes they may have bought a couple of years before, but cannot recall the brand or style. Right now, the store’s systems are as they’ve been throughout its existence — “very kind of like old school,” she said.
