Candidate filing opens July 14 for area city, school board offices

For those who have ever thought city hall or the local school board table could use another voice, the opportunity to get on the ballot is coming soon.

Candidate filing for the Nov. 3 general election opens Tuesday, July 14, and runs through Tuesday, July 28, for cities and school districts that do not hold a primary election.

Candidates who later decide not to run must submit an affidavit of withdrawal by 5 p.m. Thursday, July 30.

Several city positions are up for election this year in Little Falls, Pierz, Randall, Royalton, Swanville and Upsala, including mayoral seats and city council seats. School board seats are also expected to be on the ballot in Little Falls, Pierz, Royalton, Swanville and Upsala.
