Joy Riders Community brings seniors together

With a love for biking and good camaraderie, a number of men and women ages 55 and older gather outside the Touright Bicycle Shop in Little Falls at 9 a.m. every second and fourth Thursday of the month. Shortly after, they bike at a slow pace throughout the city and in the countryside for about eight to 10 miles. Altogether, it usually takes about an hour and 15 minutes, said Susan Sperstad, who owns the bicycle shop with her husband, David.

Mary Zak, 82, of Little Falls has been with the Joy Riders Community since it was established in recent months. Since then, the group has been on two rides and she is looking forward to joining more this summer.

Since its inception, Zak said the Joy Riders Community has started to get to know each other more. Some she is already friends with.
