From vision to venture: The Blue Barn Boutique passion for fashion pays off

In the heart of rural Pierz, Alivia Woitalla runs her business, The Blue Barn Boutique, from home. It all started in 2022 when she just had her first baby, Connor, and was looking for something to do while she was on maternity leave. She was also not planning on returning to working full-time anytime soon.

“I was like, ‘Let’s try this.’ Then I just sat, did some research and realized that I had nothing to lose, really, if I could start it from my home,” she said.

Woitalla said her husband, Evan, has been extremely supportive of her business endeavor, has encouraged her to try various vendor events and to face potential risks head-on with the mindset of, “what do you have to lose?” He’s also invested in the business, whether it has been financially, giving up space in their garage for inventory or staying home with the children on Saturdays, so she can set up at vendor events.
