Minnesota Power broke ground Wednesday, May 13, on a new Little Falls Service Center in the Hole-in-the-Day Industrial Park, marking the next step for a utility operation that has helped keep the lights on in Little Falls for more than a century.
The new facility will replace Minnesota Power’s current service center at 1201 11th St. NE, which was built in 1976. The existing site has served the company for nearly 50 years and functions as one of three primary hubs in Minnesota Power’s system.
The new building will more than double the size of the current facility, consolidate several aging structures into one modern location and better accommodate the company’s operations. Minnesota Power said the facility will also showcase innovation and sustainability while providing a better fit for how the company serves customers today.
