From allergies to art: Faraway Farm Handcrafted Soaps blends science, scent and sustainability

Every week this December, the Morrison County Record business section has profiled a different vendor located at the Shoppes of Little Falls, aiming to give local Christmas shoppers ideas for holiday gifts to get loved ones. The final profile before Christmas — for those shoppers who wait until the last minute — centers on Faraway Farm Handcrafted Soaps, which aims to make Christmas smell as good as it can be.

Karen Zimmer has been the owner and chief soap crafter of Faraway Farm since its inception in 2012. Together with her older sister, Kathy Snyder, as chief packaging designer and her husband, Scottie Devor, as chief operations officer, her soaps have traveled far beyond Minnesota to countless other states and even countries, with some soaps making it all the way to Singapore.
