The Morrison County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 7 on a petition to name a geographic feature. The geographic feature is a wetland located at the Enchanted Lakes Maplewood Addition in Cushing Township. There were 15 people who signed the petition to name the wetland “Lake Noura-Solene.”
“The name Lake Noura-Solene holds significant meaning to both me and to the Baird/Conlow families,” wrote the writer of the petition. “My wife Noura who passed in 2018 loved coming to our small lake place and enjoyed the outdoors and being at the lake. Bethany Conlow and the Baird family have been staying at their cabin for years and the lake has held special meaning to them. In 2016 Bethany Conlow lost her daughter Solene in child birth. Her daughter was cremated and her ashes were sprinkled near the lake.
