In a move to align with national, state and local efforts, Morrison County is transitioning its digital presence from the .us domain to the .gov domain. This change, which is set to take place in the coming weeks, promises to provide enhanced security and increased credibility for the county’s online platforms.

“The plan is to transition us to this in a national effort to align all governments with a.gov domain for consistency, for citizens, people that live here, people are visiting our sites.” said Morrison County IT Director Amy Middendorf during the Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2024 Morrison County Board of Commissioners planning session. “So it’s at the national, state and local level. The unification of this is also providing additional security through the backend that people don’t truly see, but there are benefits that are being offered for free.”

The transition had the most visible impact on the county’s public-facing website, which shifted from co.morrison.mn.us to the new morrisoncountymn.gov domain between Dec. 16, 2024 and Dec. 21, 2024. While the old website address will continue to work, an automatic redirect was implemented to guide users to the new site.
