Jack Hoheisel started to work for Pierz Sanitation when he was 25 years old, hauling garbage. Over the 44 years he worked for the business, he and his wife, Lori, transitioned into running the local business.
At 68, however, he and Lori were ready to move on to retirement.
“I just love what I did. And I made a lot of good friends. (Our slogan was) ‘Guaranteed satisfaction or double your garbage back,’ so we didn’t get too many complaints,” Jack said, laughing. “It was time for me to go. I want to do a little traveling before I get any older, because I feel I’m in good shape now.”
Over the 44 years the Hoheisels worked for/owned Pierz Sanitation, the business went from having just one truck and two employees to three to four trucks and many more workers. It also began to pick up recycled materials within the city limits of Pierz.
