Takoda Kennels keeps tails wagging

Creating a calm and personalized environment for the dogs that visit Takoda Kennels in Upsala is important to Owner Rachel Strassburg. Since she runs a small operation with only a few kennels, she is able to devote more time to each dog and build a real connection. The small-scale environment also often makes it easier for dogs who may not react too well to larger kennel settings, she said.

Strassburg offers boarding and grooming services from her residence in Upsala. Besides being taken on walks several times daily, she also has an enclosed area, where the dogs can run and play, either together or separately, depending on each dog’s comfort level and need. It’s also not unusual for Strassburg to include her own dogs when it’s appropriate. She has three dogs — a yellow Labrador named Chief, a black Labrador named Bayou and Radar, the 8-year-old Golden Retriever with a heart of gold.
