Barrett Petfood plans major Little Falls expansion backed by TIF district

Barrett Petfood Innovations is preparing for a major expansion in Little Falls, a project that could bring dozens of new jobs, grow the city’s tax base and require a new wastewater pretreatment plant built on the company’s site.

The project, discussed Monday, May 4, during a Little Falls City Council work session, would allow Barrett Petfood to consolidate warehouse space it is losing in Sauk Rapids while adding production capacity in Little Falls.

City staff said the company is planning about 280,000 square feet of new space in three phases. The expansion would include additional warehouse capacity, one new production line and expanded office space.
