School district, Habitat partnership could create student-built homes in Little Falls

Sometimes the best community projects do more than solve one problem.
A proposal approved March 9 by the Little Falls School Board would not only create space for four or five new homes but also give Little Falls students a chance to learn the building trades in the most hands-on way possible — by helping to build houses that families will one day call home.
Little Falls Community Schools approved the sale of a parcel of real estate near Little Falls Community High School to Habitat for Humanity of Morrison County for $25,000. The land will be developed into residential lots, with carpentry students taking part in the construction of one house each school year.
