Swanville feed mill part of Hormel turkey business sale

Hormel Foods Corp. announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its whole-bird turkey business to Life-Science Innovations, and included in that deal is the Swanville feed mill.

For residents who have watched trucks roll in and out for years — feeding the region’s turkey operations — the announcement signals a shift in ownership, but not an abrupt end.

The transaction, expected to close by the end of Hormel’s second quarter of fiscal 2026 pending customary conditions, also includes the company’s Melrose whole-bird production facility and related transportation assets. Financial terms were not disclosed.
