Whether it’s a quick trip to the store or a drive back into town after a weekend away, everyday travel in Little Falls could soon include passing a new set of police cameras, as the City Council moves forward with a trial of license plate reader technology.
The Little Falls City Council approved a 60-day trial of the camera system during its Jan. 20 meeting, authorizing a memorandum of understanding for the temporary installation of up to 10 automated license plate recognition cameras from Flock Safety at key entry and exit points around the city.
Little Falls Police Chief Kyle Johnson told council members the department has been researching the technology for some time and believes it could be a useful tool for investigators.
