Being named as the 2025 Small Business Administration (SBA) Minnesota Women in Business Champion of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration came as a huge surprise to Carol Anderson, executive director at Community Development of Morrison County.

“It’s amazing. It really feels good. I have worked for a long time here, helping a lot of businesses, not just women-owned businesses, but help businesses get started and what’s really nice about it,” she said.

While SBA has announced Anderson as the winner of the award, the SBA’s Minnesota District will honor Anderson locally on May 9 in recognition of National Small Business Week. Meanwhile SBA Minnesota District Director Brian McDonald shared positive words about Anderson.

“We are thrilled to recognize Carol Anderson for her efforts in uplifting Minnesota women-owned small business. Carol’s dedication to supporting women entrepreneurs, facilitating business growth and strengthening economic opportunities has made a significant impact in Morrison County and beyond. Her leadership and advocacy exemplify the spirit of entrepreneurship and community service,” McDonald said.
