In a move to address the growing need for affordable housing in the region, the Morrison County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Habitat for Humanity of Morrison County to utilize state affordable housing funds.
The partnership, which was discussed during the Tuesday, Feb. 25th board meeting, will allow Habitat for Humanity to access $112,042 in state-allocated funds to support a variety of housing-related projects throughout the county.
Kathy Lange, the executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Morrison County, presented the organization’s plans for the funding, which include the purchase of a 2.9-acre parcel of land from the Little Falls school district. The land, located adjacent to the high school, will serve as the site for a unique partnership project that will involve the school’s carpentry students in the construction of one house per year for eight years.
