On the 83rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, Minnesotans came together virtually to remember the sacrifices of those who served on that fateful day. The 2024 Pearl Harbor remembrance meeting, hosted by the Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum, featured moving personal accounts from the families of survivors, as well as updates on efforts to preserve the history and legacy of the attack.
Randal Dietrich, executive director of the museum, welcomed attendees and set the stage for the discussion.
“We appreciate you joining us on what is a historic day and appreciate your commitment, along with that of others, to always remember, and that’s why we’re doing what we do,” Dietrich said. “Part of this is also to push this history forward. It happened 83 years ago and at the same time, it continues to inform our world today. The legacy of these individuals is something we can learn from and also something we should probably draw from as we look for future direction and guidance on the challenges in front of us.”
