Pierz teen opens ‘Truffles by Caiden’

Truffles by Caiden. That’s what Caiden Ratke, 13, of Pierz calls her business — an endeavor her parents, Nick and Crystal, support wholeheartedly.

With a love for baking, Caiden said her dream was to one day own her own bakery. Little did she know at the time that the dream would, in a sense, come true a lot earlier. However, it was an opportunity she seized.

Mom Crystal said as she and her husband purchased Pierz Ballroom and Lanes in December 2021, a variety of events have been held at the business. One of them was a Christmas party for Barrett Petfood Innovations, which had requested truffles. It was a delicacy they had the year before and wanted again, Crystal said.

“I had never even heard about a truffle and wondered where they came from,” she said.

A baker at heart, Caiden commented to her mom that she should make those. At that time, neither knew how true that statement would be.
