Little Falls, Pierz fire departments awarded grants for emergency equipment

The Little Falls and Pierz fire departments are among 50 Minnesota emergency response agencies receiving grants from Compeer Financial to help purchase equipment for rural emergency response.

The Little Falls Fire Department received funding for thermal imaging cameras and gated wyes. A gated wye is a firefighting hose fitting that splits one water supply line into two controlled hose lines, allowing firefighters to open, close or adjust each line separately.

The Pierz Fire Department received funding for self-contained breathing apparatus, or SCBA, equipment firefighters wear to breathe safely in smoke-filled, toxic or oxygen-deficient environments.
