Continuously seeking to make a difference in communities and for the environment, the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls was recently recognized by the Morrison Soil & Water Conservation District for their efforts.
Sister Mary Hroscikoski said receiving the Morrison County Community Conservationist Award means a lot to the Sisters.
Highlighting what the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls has done, Morrison Soil & Water Conservation District Manager Shannon Wettstein said the Franciscan Sisters have undertaken significant land stewardship projects on their Morrison and Benton County properties. That includes restoring native prairie areas, removing buckthorn and managing forests to help stabilize soils, reduce erosion and enhance biodiversity. The Sisters are also part of a Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources Habitat Friendly Utilities program to pilot innovative methods to establish vegetation at their solar site and adjacent utility corridor.
