A family legacy: 84 years of serving the community at Gotvald Implement

Tucked away in the rural countryside of Hillman, Gotvald Implement has been a fixture in the local community for over eight decades. Founded in 1940 by current owner Dick Gotvald’s father, this family-owned business has weathered the test of time, adapting to the changing needs of the region while maintaining its commitment to providing quality service and products.

At 85 years old, Gotvald has spent nearly his entire life working at the store, except for two years spent serving in the military.

“My father started in October of ‘40, and I just have never gotten out of here,” Gotvald said. “He started across the road on Oct. 1, 1940. He ran the place and then rebuilt this one here. Three of us boys took over from him in 1977.”
