Larry Brenize says he’s just a guy on a bike.
But Brenize and the 409 other bicyclists who gathered at the Freedhem store on Saturday, July 6 weren’t just ordinary people on bikes.
They were “Gravel grinders”- off-road bicyclists who enjoy taking on challenging terrain with the adventure of exploring scenic back roads.
The 400-plus bicyclists turned out 12 miles northeast of Little Falls in the small Belle Prairie Township community of Freedhem for the Freedhem 76 for either a 106, 76, or 46-mile bike ride along the gravel roads of Morrison and Crow Wing Counties. There was also a 22 kilometer walk/run as part of the day’s festivities.
